Vacancy Announcement: Administrative and IT Assistant
The Under the framework of the
UNESCO-UNFPA-UNWOMEN Joint Programme for the Empowerment of Adolescent
Girls and Young Women, the UNESCO Office in Kathmandu is implementing
the project “Empowering Adolescent Girls and Young Women through the
provision of Comprehensive Sexuality Education and a Safe Learning
Environment in Nepal” with support from the Republic of Korea and in
close cooperation with the Government of Nepal, Ministry of Education
(MoE) and the Nepal National Commission for UNESCO/MoE.
In order to coordinate the implementation of the
project, the UNESCO Office in Kathmandu seeks applications for the
following position:
Position Title : Administrative and IT Assistant
Condition of Employment : Full-time based in UNESCO Kathmandu Office, with frequent field visits
Type of Contract : Service Contract
Salary scale : SB 2, Band B, Step 1
Net monthly Salary : NPR 55,359 (Tax applicable)
Additional benefits : Provident fund & Medical insurance
Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent shall perform administrative, finance
and IT functions of the office and support the implementation of the
project “Empowering Adolescent Girls and Young Women through the
provision of Comprehensive Sexuality Education and a Safe Learning
Environment in Nepal”, under the overall authority of the Head of the
UNESCO Office in Kathmandu and UNESCO Representative to Nepal, and
direct supervision of the chief of the Administrative & Finance
Unit. In particular, s/he shall:
1. Assist the office to prepare, execute and monitor the project budget;
2. Assist in carrying out day to day budgetary and financial tasks;
3. Assist in the procurement function of Office
Equipment, Office Furniture, Stationery items, Hotel Services, Printing
Service; IT related products and any other procurement;
4. Follow-up regularly and maintain systematic
filing of all the original contracts and the administrative documents as
required;
5. Assist in providing logistic and administrative support for meetings, workshop.
6. Assist to use computer hardware, software and operate a multi-platform computer environment;
7. Assist to set-up and configure desktop
computers, peripherals such as printers or routers, repair equipment and
provide support for computer network, as required;
8. Assist to troubleshoot the common
hardware/software issues, diagnose problems, implement corrective action
procedures within prescribed guidelines and/or escalate to other
technical resources as appropriate;
9. Perform any other duties and undertake any
other tasks as requested and assigned by the Head of Office and/or the
supervisor.
Qualification and Experience Required:
Candidates must possess the following qualifications:
1) Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline,
preferably in accountancy or business administration or information
& technology
2) 3-5 years of experience of working in the area of administration, finance and IT preferably with a UN agency or an INGO.
3) Good understanding of accounting and financial management of an international development agency;
4) Sound knowledge of IT skills including
operating systems, computer hardware and software, networking, word
processing, data management, presentation software and other relevant
professional software.
5) Ability to work in multicultural team environment and to meet given deadlines.
6) Flexibility to work in difficult and changing conditions.
7) Good reporting and documentation skills.
8) Very good written and oral communication skills in Nepali and English.
