What is Nepali Unicode?

In simple terms, Nepali unicode is new code to display Nepali font. Traditionally, there have been Nepali fonts. Nepali unicode is different than Nepali font in terms of typing.

How can I type in Nepali Unicode?

How to type in Nepali Unicode

  • If you type in ‘namaskar’, the unicode box will show ‘नमस्कार’
  • Use \ for typing ‘vyanjan varna’ only. ‘ka’ followed by \ will result as ‘क्’
  • Type in * for ‘anuswar’. If you type in ‘ma*than’, the output will be ‘मंथन’.
  • ‘Bahini’ and ‘bahinee’ both result ‘बहिनी’. However ‘i’ signifies ‘hraswa’ and ‘ee’ signifies ‘dirgha’.
  • Similarly ‘fool’ and ‘ful’ result ‘फूल’ and ‘फुल’ respectively. Hence, ‘u’ signifies ‘hraswa’ and ‘oo’ signifies ‘dirgha’.
